MEET THE ARTIST
Born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, Julianne is a contemporary artist whose work is influenced by exploring the abstract geographies that we navigate in our daily lives. She studied painting at the University of South Carolina and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina in Aiken, SC.
From the onset of her career, Julianne has utilized the color palettes, forms, and figures that make up the views of everyday life. Geometric shapes of color live in harmony with abstract washes of dye. Built up layers of depth grounded in empty fields of raw, untouched canvas, create textures of interest. Much like life mistakes are made, scratched out, or left unhidden.
Her evolving body of work explores traces or notions of connection. Working from intuition and response, Julianne uncovers interactions revealing things unseen and unfolding a developing connection with time.
Her father, an architect and carpenter, now collaborates with her by building frames for many of her pieces. She now works out of her home studio in Charlotte, North Carolina.
